How Orthodontic Braces Can Help Your Misaligned Teeth?

If you have a crocked teeth or misaligned bite, there are several dental treatments that can help to straighten your teeth. Over the following years, the popularity of orthodontic braces treatment has increased a lot.

Many general dentists are doing basic alignment and orthodontics, but professional orthodontists specialize in correcting irregularities of the teeth. When you visit a dental clinic, a professional orthodontist will ask questions about your teeth condition. After analyzing all the conditions, he or she will provide all the necessary treatment. However, an appropriate treatment plan is made based on analysis of the gathered information.

How do orthodontic braces work?

1.       Orthodontic braces work by applying continuous pressure over a period of time to slowly move teeth in a specific time. As the teeth move, the bone changes shape as pressure is applied. Braces are made up of the following components. These are:

2.       Brackets are the small squares that are bonded directly to the front of each tooth with a special dental bonding agent or are attached to orthodontic bands. Occasionally, brackets are cemented to the back of the teeth, in order to hide them from view.

3.       Orthodontic braces are stainless steel, clear or tooth colored materials that are cemented to the teeth with dental bonding agents. They wrap around each tooth to provide an anchor for the brackets. The clean or tooth colored bands are more cosmetically appealing options but are more expensive than stainless steel. They are not used in all patients. Some people have only brackets no bands.

4.       Arch wires attach to the brackets and act as tracks to guide the movement of the teeth. Arch wires can be made of metal or be clear or tooth colored.

5.       Ties are small rubber rings or fines wires that fasten the arch wire to the brackets. They can be clear, metal or colored.

Moreover, orthodontic treatment uses different devices such as a brace to correct the position of the teeth. Thus your exact problem will depend on the problems with your teeth.
